CLL cells nurse themselves healthier by manipulating the microenvironment

A new paper has been published by Dr Li Jia and her colleagues in the Centre for Haemato-Oncology. The research brings us closer to understanding how chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) changes its local environment in the body to support and encourage its own growth; which was not known before now.

In CLL, the production of a type of white blood cells called lymphocytes becomes faulty, leading to an accumulation of abnormal lymphocyte-like cancer cells...
