I am interested in understanding the regulation of post-transcriptional events within subcellular compartments, and how this is altered in cancer. Synthesis of proteins from mRNA is not a 1 to 1 process, and there are many biochemical processes that impact protein translation. One of them is dynamic movement of transcripts within cellular milieu; indeed, there is growing evidence that mRNA relocation and translation efficiency are key mechanisms in a range of physiological processes and diseases.

Using a multi-omics approach, my aim is to systematically reveal the relationship between RNA localisation and protein expression in mammalian cells, and assess how RNA localisation might be dysregulated in cancer cells in order to promote a more malignant phenotype.
