The Laboratory Management Team is responsible for the day-to-day running of research at Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London, ensuring that shared laboratory spaces and essential equipment are maintained to a high standard for our researchers. Our work provides the foundation for our cancer research by creating a safe and efficient research environment across the Institute.
Overall, we aim to deliver frictionless, reliable, and optimised research spaces that maximise experimental productivity, reduce avoidable disruptions, and support the successful delivery of BCI research.
Our team oversees communal facilities such as cold rooms, equipment and tissue culture suites, as well as managing service contracts, shared consumables and deliveries. We also support laboratory safety, providing guidance and training to all staff and students. Alongside this, we play a central role in supporting more sustainable laboratory practices across the institute, including initiatives to reduce waste, improve recycling and promote more efficient use of resources.
